FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed health care provider.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma.State of Delaware licensed.Minimum of 2 years of orthopaedic experience required.Computer skills. Excellent interpersonal skills needed.A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance, support and maintain work flow to assigned providers in regards to patient care at all times.
  • Maintain clinical data for patients such as current medication list and medical history.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests and complete required authorizations for said tests as needed.
  • Review assigned provider charts for upcoming appointments.Make sure the chart is up to date and accurate.Make sure the provider has the required information for appointment to improve efficiency of provider during office hours.
  • Main inventory of medical supplies.Report any necessary shortages of supplies to manager.
  • Keep examination rooms clean and well stocked.
  • Perform proper sterilization techniques for medical equipment using autoclave.
  • Use proper technique for various medical procedures.
  • Assist provider, as necessary, with in office procedures.
  • Address patient messages in a timely and efficient manner.Communicate with provider, as needed, regarding any messages.Document in complete detail any advice or medical assistance given to patient.
  • Communicate any pertinent information regarding patient care to Front Desk or Surgical Coordinator.
  • Maintain and fax all physician orders.
  • Comply with all OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of other departments.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by Manager or Administrator as needed.

Physical/Mental Demands: Adequate hearing to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required.Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service, including injections.Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.Requires low exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Front Desk Receptionist

REPORTS TO: Front Office Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB OVERVIEW: Provide direct support to physicians, mid-level providers, clerical staff and patients. Coordinates inter and intra office communications. Work directly with patients to ensure smooth patient flow, patient satisfaction and coordination of multiple tasks. Presents a positive image to supporting staff members and patients at all times.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or Associate Degree in related field, previous experience in a medical office practice, excellent communication and computer skills, patient service focus and professional appearance.

Detailed Responsibilities: 

  • Answer all incoming calls and route calls as necessary throughout the organization.
  • Schedule, reschedule and cancel appointments for all providers according to provided protocol.
  • Update patient information.
  • Collect patient demographic information and nature of complaint/injury on new patients that contact the office by phone.
  • Carefully document all incoming messages and task to appropriate party.
  • Refer calls of a clinical nature to the appropriate medical secretary or provider.
  • Check-in and check-out, collect demographic data and collect co-pays, daily.
  • Process credit card payments and end of day settlement for credit payments.
  • Manage petty cash account.
  • Check multiple incoming fax lines and distribute faxes accordingly.
  • Maintain file of incoming ER reports.
  • Maintain adequate copies of all front office forms.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines at all times.
  • If patient medical records need to be obtained, have patient fill out Authorization to Release Medical Information form.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by Manager or Administrator as needed.

Physical/Mental Demands: Multi-task duties require sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending and reaching. Occasional lifting of supplies for storage up to approximately 30 pounds. Must be able to project a positive attitude and diplomacy in an occasionally stressful work environment.

X-Ray Technologist

REPORTS TO: X- Ray Supervisor

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB OVERVIEW: The Technologist is responsible for producing high quality patient X-Ray films. The Technologist independently obtains and asses required images, evaluates completed films, and reports all clinical information to the radiologist/physician.  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: ARRT approved program, one year training; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current state licensure or permit to practice medical imaging in Delaware. BLS required.  

Detailed Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the correct identification of the patient demographics on each image to include correct permanent marker right or left identification.
  • Position patients for X-Ray procedures on X-Ray table by physically lifting and placing patients on table with co-worker assistance as required.
  • Closely reviews each image prior to patient release in order to complete additional views if needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates images for the purpose of evaluation techniques, positions, and other related qualities and are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
  • Provides clear and thorough explanation of procedures to patients in a kind and pleasant manner, and pre-screens patients to include taking patient history and vitals.
  • Verifies accuracy of orders prior to examining the patient. Enters data in Radiology Information System (RIS), assuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitors patient flow from screening through end of each exam.
  • Assist patients in and out of examination and/or X-Ray rooms in an efficient manner.
  • Monitors patient while they are being screened, while in the examination room and throughout treatment to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Responds to patient concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Observes radiation safety procedures to safeguard against overexposure of patient and personnel to radiation.
  • Makes data entry corrections on patients as necessary and calls and confirms all appointments in advance, if needed.
  • Documents patient history from interview and forwards to Radiologist.
  • Responsible for proper finalization of exams in RIS and merging of studies in PACS (if needed).
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness. Practice sterile techniques and cleans exam room after each patient including:
    • Disposing of medical waste as required by OSHA
    • Sterilizing instruments
    • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment
    • Changing table paper and pillow cases
    • Providing clean gowns for patients
    • Placing used gowns in appropriate container for laundering
  • Calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning, cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment as well as stocks and replenishes supplies as required.
  • Performs a variety of clerical tasks to include; assisting with laundry, pulling jackets, inputting/editing exams, assists receptionist and/or administrative staff when necessary.
  • Promotes positive work environment with patients, Physicians, and fellow staff.
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction to students and staff, when needed.

Physical/Mental Demands: The employee is regularly exposed to risk of radiation. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
