Peter J. Coveleski, D.O. - Joining Summer 2025

Dr. Coveleski is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he developed a strong interest in the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems. He completed his internship at Riverside Hospital in Delaware (1989–1990), followed by a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, affiliated with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Medical School.

Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for over 30 years, Dr. Coveleski served as Medical Director of the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and the Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinic at Bayhealth Medical Center for 18 years. In 1996, he earned additional board certification in Electrodiagnostic Medicine from the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM).

Dr. Coveleski has delivered lectures on topics including spasticity management, sports injuries, and orthopedic bracing. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Delaware Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the Sussex County Medical Society. He has also contributed to the academic field by authoring a textbook chapter on rehabilitation modalities.

In 2024, Dr. Coveleski was recognized as a "Top Doctor" in Delaware Today magazine for his work in pain management and rehabilitation.

He brings a non-surgical, patient-centered approach to the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, along with extensive experience in electrodiagnostic medicine, to the First State Orthopedics Southern Division team.
